The Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has been notoriously tight lipped while she was writing the Potter Books. She said very little and when she did answer questions she always chose her answers very carefully. Now that the final Potter book is out we are getting to see a new more open JKR. She now seems happy to share what ever other information she has about Harry and his world with an eager public.

WARNING – the remainder of this post contains Harry Potter 7 spoilers!

Many people, myself included, felt that there were an awful lot of unanswered questions left at the end of the last book. Yes, she tied up all the loose ends relating to the Voldemort plot, but almost everything else was left open. In her first major interview after the release of the final book with MSNBC JKR fills in a lot of the gaps.

The key points we learn are that 19 years later there is a new Headmaster at Hogwarts, as well as a new Defence Against The Dark Arts teacher. The new headmaster is not McGonagle which is a pity. JKR explains this by saying that McGonagle was getting on in years though I doubt she was as old as Dumbledore!

The other big thing for me is that we find out about the careers of the trio. All three end up working at the ministry of magic. However, it’s a new and transformed ministry. Harry & Ron are leading the Auror office and Hermione is with the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. It’s good to see that the ministry has finally cleaned up it’s act and that the trio have good careers. Mind you, I am a bit disappointed that Harry is not a star Seaker, although, he’s probably doing more good as an Auror!

There are lots more juicy little bit of info in the article over on MSNBC so I’d suggest you head over there and have a read.
