You&#8217;ll get a cryptic error that includes the phrase <em>&#8220;Failed to connect to settings endpoint&#8221;<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The fix for this is really simple, but it took me for ever to find, so I figured I&#8217;d share it with the world and perhaps save other some stress ?<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The root cause of the problem is the <em>Prevent cross-site tracking<\/em> setting in Safari. Unfortunately Teams requires 3rd-party cookies to work, so you&#8217;ll need to disable this privacy-protecting feature ?<\/p>\n<p>Open the Settings window in Safari, navigate to the <em>Privacy<\/em> tab and un-tick the <em>Prevent cross-site tracking<\/em> checkbox.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bartbusschots.ie\/s\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Screenshot-2020-10-15-at-12.20.18.png\" alt=\"Screenshot showing the &#039;Prevent cross-site tracking&#039; checkbox in Safari&#039;s settings window\" width=\"480\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-16568\" style=\"border-width: 0px;\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bartbusschots.ie\/s\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Screenshot-2020-10-15-at-12.20.18.png 1784w, https:\/\/www.bartbusschots.ie\/s\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Screenshot-2020-10-15-at-12.20.18-300x125.png 300w, https:\/\/www.bartbusschots.ie\/s\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Screenshot-2020-10-15-at-12.20.18-1024x428.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.bartbusschots.ie\/s\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Screenshot-2020-10-15-at-12.20.18-768x321.png 768w, https:\/\/www.bartbusschots.ie\/s\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Screenshot-2020-10-15-at-12.20.18-1536x642.png 1536w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1784px) 100vw, 1784px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If you make this change before you install the Teams app it will just work, but if you install the app and then run into this problem you&#8217;ll need to make Teams forget what it thinks it knows to get it to work. You can do this by deleting the <code>Teams<\/code> folder in your <code>Library<\/code> folder, specifically <code>~\/Library\/Application Support\/Microsoft\/Teams<\/code>.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re comfortable in the terminal simply run:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"crayon:false\">\r\nrm -rf ~\/Library\/Application Support\/Microsoft\/Teams\r\n<\/pre>\n<p>Alternatively, you can delete the folder in the Finder by expanding the <em>Go<\/em> menu, selecting <em>Go to folder&#8230;<\/em>, and pasting in <code>~\/Library\/Application Support\/Microsoft<\/code>.
